Effect of glass, carbon, and kevlar fibers on mechanical properties for polymeric composite tubes produced by a unidirectional winding method

Abstract One of the applications composites is in manufacturing tubes, which are widely used industries such as petroleum, petrochemical, and aerospace. Composite tubes made thermoset resin base material reinforced by fibers, having a solid, lightweight, corrosion-resistant structure, great replacement for metal concrete tubes. In this research, composite with various resins material, Swancor901, Epiran-1012, Epiran-06FL different fibers glass, carbon, kevlar according to compatible role, angle 45° unidirectional same size, thickness, diameter, were produced winding method. To study mechanical properties tensile, compressive, three-point flexural strength tests performed. The results showed that highest ultimate tensile was obtained carbon tube (CFR) equal 139MPa, 136% 26% higher than (KFR) glass (GFR), respectively. also GFR 91.08MPa, 132% 13% CFR KFR, Also, compression test, compressive observed samples kevlar, SEM imaging from cross-sections show best bonding between CFR.
